We are pleased to announce the Hon Richard Marles MP, Federal Member for Corio, will join next week’s Technology & Innovation Summit in Geelong on 18 April, a must attend event for every manufacturer.
Richard Marles is currently the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Minister for Defence and the Federal Member for Corio.
Speaking following the unveiling today of Federal Government plans for a Future Made in Australia Act, proposing greater incentives to advance manufacturing and clean energy industries, Deputy Prime Minister Marles will share his views on the future, the barriers and the opportunities for Australian and Geelong manufacturing.
The new law is intended to set an overall agenda that adds to existing measures such as the $10 billion National Reconstruction Fund, the Net Zero Authority, the $1 billion commitment to making solar energy panels and the $2 billion subsidy for hydrogen fuel last year.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said today: “We recognise that for Australians to share fully in the rewards, government needs to be prepared to use its size and strength and strategic capacity to absorb some of the risk.”
Richard was raised and educated in Geelong and went on to study Law and Science, from the University of Melbourne. Richard lives in Geelong and is a devoted Geelong Cats supporter.
Richard’s previous appointments include Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Shadow Minister for National Reconstruction, Employment, Skills and Small Business, Shadow Minister for Science, Shadow Minister for Defence, Shadow Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Minister of Trade, Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation and Industry, and Chair of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Affairs.
Join us at 8.45 a.m. next Thursday to hear this timely discussion.
